Shri R. Sankar
The greatest visionary, R. Sankar, the Founder Manager of S N Colleges was the third Chief Minister of Kerala from 1962 to 1964. Apart from being a politician, he is a renowned statesman, administrator, orator, educationist, writer and editor. His appointment as principal of Sivagiri High School made him associate with the activities of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam. He was deeply affected by the social injustice prevalent in those days, particularly the discriminatory attitude shown towards backward class communities. He served as SNDP General Secretary for over a span of 10 years and President and Chief of the SN Trust. Under his leadership the SNDP Yogam gave emphasis to the field of education and started many educational institutions. After an active career in politics, he focused on starting and implementing educational institutions for SNDP Yogam which led to the establishment of the SN Trust. He realised that the best tool for the upliftment of the backward classes is to facilitate education. Sree Narayana College for Women was established in 1951 for the empowerment of women.
