The Department of Statistics of T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara was established in 2008. Dr. Preeth M. is the first and foremost HOD of the Department, since his appointment in March 2008. The Department offers complementary course in statistics to BSc. Mathematics students. The department aims to train students in the development and applications of Statistical techniques for analyzing data arising in the scientific investigation of problems in various disciplines. It also provides first hand practical experience in handling modern statistical software in the analysis of such data. In the present scenario, it is rather impossible, even to think of any field which does not employ modern statistical tools to arrive at rational conclusions from research studies and a statistician is always an indispensable part of any research team carrying out any research investigation.
The Department is very much active in academics as well as in other activities that helps to manage the College. Some of the activities in which the Department is being engaged in the College are All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) of MHRD, RUSA, Income Tax assessment and verification of the entire staff of the college, conducting University examinations, Kerala Public Service Commission Examinations at certain times, etc. Faculty of the department took part in designing the curricula of both UG and PG courses in the University of Kerala.

TKMM College, Nagiarkulangara is named after the great freedom fighter and social reformer Sri.T.K.Madhavan, one of the most acclaimed leaders of Vaikkam Sathyagraha. Our college is established in the year 1968.Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. R.Sankar has layed the foundation. He is also the founder manager of all SN Colleges in Kerala.
The Department of Hindi has begun its journey in the college from the beginning of the colleges itself as an additional language course. T
