The Department of English of T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara is one of the esteemed and earliest departments with an illustrious tradition since its inception in 1964. The Department has always kept a benchmark among the other departments in the College through eminent English teachers who left their indelible mark in academic and literary field.
Initially the Department offered English for Pre-degree courses in the College. In 1998, the Department was upgraded into an undergraduate department. Since 1998, the Department has been offering B.A. English Language and Literature and also handling various English courses for B. A., B Sc. and B. Com. for various departments of the College. The complementary papers we offer for the students till 2019 had been History of English Literature and Journalism.
The committed and dedicated faculty of the Department of English have been successfully chiseling generations to socially inclined and responsible citizens. The vivacious and enthusiastic faculty of the Department is renowned for their unfeigned love for students and literature. One of the teachers is a Ph. D holder, and two teachers have M.Phil degrees. All the teachers attend seminars,workshops, present papers and has published a number of research papers in authorized academic journals in the last four years. The department co-ordinates the activities of various clubs like Literary Club, Communicative Development Committee, Career Guidance Cell, Women’s Club, Debate Club and Dance Club. The College information officer is also from the department, Mrs. Soumya V S, the current Head of the Department.

TKMM College, Nagiarkulangara is named after the great freedom fighter and social reformer Sri.T.K.Madhavan, one of the most acclaimed leaders of Vaikkam Sathyagraha. Our college is established in the year 1968.Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. R.Sankar has layed the foundation. He is also the founder manager of all SN Colleges in Kerala.
The Department of Hindi has begun its journey in the college from the beginning of the colleges itself as an additional language course. T
